The constitutional rights of defendants are in jeopardy because of a backlogged court system and mask mandates in Orange County, a Southern California criminal attorney says. Karren Kenney of Kenney Legal Defense told The Epoch Times that the Orange County court system is so backed up that the notions of getting a timely trial and an impartial jury have become “a joke.” “There are no speedy trials right now, especially if you’re out of custody,” she said. Court officials and the District Attorney’s Office say they’re doing the best they can to cope with obstacles presented during the COVID-19 pandemic and that justice is still being served.
