While John Durham will no doubt feel happy about the conviction of Steele dossier source Igor Danchenko, his late success does not lessen the fact that Durham had veered far off course.
What is often lost in the noise of the three cases that Durham brought is that they have little to do with his original mandate when he was appointed by then-attorney general Bill Barr in 2019.
