The ISIS terrorist group claimed responsibility for a deadly suicide bomb attack at a Shiite mosque in southern Afghanistan on Oct. 15 that killed 47 people and injured dozens more. The blast happened during Friday prayers in the first district of Kandahar city and involved two ISIS members who shot and killed security guards manning the entrance of the Fatimiya mosque. One of the terrorists detonated his explosive belt at the entrance of the mosque, while the other bomber walked inside the building before blowing himself up. It was the second mass-casualty incident in the country targeting worshippers in one week. On Oct. 8, a large explosion at a mosque in the city of Kunduz killed dozens of people and wounded at least 100.
