HAIFA, Israel—Iranian authorities announced on Oct. 31 that they will hold public trials for about 1,000 people this week in order to suppress more than six weeks of protests after the death of a young woman in police custody.
An Israeli expert on Iran, Eliyahu Yossian, told The Epoch Times on Monday that the people who will be put on trial may include participants of previous protests concerning economic and civil issues. They may be people who the regime wants to settle a score with.
Yossian was born in Iran and has an engineering degree from Iran. He emigrated to Israel and served in unit 8200, an Israeli intelligence corps. He is a winner of the Israel Defense Award and a researcher of Iran after the Islamic Revolution….
