Louisiana’s governor this week extended his indoor mask mandate, arguing that evidence shows masks can slow the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. “I think this is incredibly important,” Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat, told a briefing. Edwards pointed to a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study that found schools with mask mandates had a reduced transmission of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus when compared to masks that did not. Researchers said a “crude analysis” from Maricopa and Pima counties showed “the odds of a school-associated COVID-19 outbreak in schools without a mask requirement were 3.5 times higher than those in schools with an early mask requirement.” Experts are split on using masks to prevent the spread of the CCP virus.
