Democrats can regain a majority on a key Senate committee if Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) resigns, a top Republican senator said on April 23.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) has been away from Washington for months due to a bout with shingles. That’s left Democrats with the same number of votes on the Senate Judiciary Committee as Republicans, and the GOP rejected an effort to temporarily replace the Californian.
But if Feinstein, 89, steps down, Democrats would be able to replace her, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Sunday.
“If she does resign, I would be in the camp of following the precedent of the Senate replacing the person, consistent with what we have done in the past,” Graham, the ranking member of the judiciary panel, said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”…
