Hundreds of people gathered outside the Supreme Court overnight after a purported draft opinion was published.
People in support of abortion and those opposed to the procedure stood near the nation’s top court, which allegedly decided that Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
The draft opinion stating as much was made public by Politico, though its authenticity could not immediately be confirmed.
The Supreme Court did not respond to a request for comment.
It remains unclear when the actual opinion in the case at hand, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, will be issued.
The case was argued on Dec. 1, 2021. It confronts Roe v. Wade and a later decision, Planned Parenthood v. Casey which established abortion as a constitutional right despite it not being mentioned in the U.S. Constitution.
