Israel’s military intelligence chief said on Monday that Iran is moving closer to reaching 90-percent-enriched uranium, which could be used to escalate its nuclear program.
Gen. Aharon Haliva, head of Israeli military intelligence, made the comment at a conference at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv.
“The moment is coming … when Iran entertains enrichment at 90 percent, even if only symbolically,” Haliva said, adding that this would represent “the greatest test of the international community.”
Uranium enriched at 90 percent is considered weapons-grade.
Haliva’s comments mark the first time that a senior Israeli intelligence official has publicly acknowledged that Iran could soon enrich to 90 percent, Axios reported….
