Joel Dahmen, the former University of Washington golfer and a Clarkston, Wash., native, celebrated his first victory on the PGA Tour at the end of March. Late last month, Dahmen celebrated his 10th anniversary of surviving cancer, meaning that Sunday—National Cancer Survivors Day—will have extra meaning for him. Dahmen lost his mother to cancer while he was a junior at Clarkston High School. A few years later, Dahmen’s older brother was diagnosed with testicular cancer, and two years after that, in 2011, Joel was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It has been quite a decade since.
