Georgia Rep. Vernon Jones on Wednesday announced he was switching parties. Jones, a Democrat, said he will join the Republican Party. “Now more than ever, the Republican Party is in desperate need of leaders that know how to fight. I know how to fight,” Jones said in a statement. Jones, 60, has been a state representative since 2017. He also served from 1993 to 2001. Jones last year announced he was supporting Republican President Donald Trump. He has campaigned for Republican candidates in recent weeks, including Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) and Georgia GOP candidate David Perdue.
