Former San Francisco Public Works Director Mohammed Nuru officially pleaded guilty in federal court to honest services wire fraud. The 59-year old is charged for a long-running scheme involving multiple bribes and kickbacks during his time in office from 2011 to 2020. He admitted to receiving bribes like free travel, gifts, and benefits from Walter Wong, who owns a construction company. Wong also performed construction services for free at Nuru’s San Francisco home and ranch in Colusa County. In return, Nuru helped Wong secure city contracts and expedite permit approvals. Nuru admitted to getting free meals and entertainment from Nick Bovis, a restaurant owner, and to money laundering with Sandra Zuniga, his girlfriend at one point. …
