The federal Liberals spent $140.8 million on advertising between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022, representing the highest amount spent by any federal government in a single year to date, according to an internal report.
“The COVID-19 pandemic remained a high priority, with advertising efforts from the previous two fiscal years continuing for a third fiscal year, to inform Canadians about government programs, services and public health measures as the situation evolved,” said the Public Works Department in the document, first reported by Blacklock’s Reporter.
The report, titled, “Annual Report On Government Of Canada Advertising Activities 2021 to 2022” said the majority of the advertising activities were suspended when the federal general election was called in September 2021 and resumed when the newly elected government was sworn into office….
