BOSTON—Shen Yun, the universally acclaimed classical Chinese dance and music performance hailing from New York, has a special place in the hearts of little girls, big and small. At the April 3 matinee, families reveled in the unique culture of ancient China. Michael Farah, marketing director at Northeastern University, and veterinarian Stacy Farah saw the show after having heard about it since living in New York City many years ago. They brought their daughter Penelope, who is doing hip-hop dance, and whose favorite TV shows are Japanese and Chinese. “It’s really important to expose my young daughter to other cultures beyond her own,” said Mrs. Farah, at the Boch Center Wang Theatre. “So that’s a big reason why we brought her here so she could learn more about other cultures around the world.” Traditionally, Chinese culture reflected the principles of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism.
