The Biden administration announced plans to enhance wastewater discharge limits for coal-fired power facilities.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the proposalĀ is based on the most recent science and uses the EPA’s longstanding authority under the Clean Water Act to reduce toxic metals and other pollutants discharged from these power plants into lakes, streams, and other bodies of water.
“Ensuring the health and safety of all people is EPA’s top priority, and this proposed rule represents an ambitious step toward protecting communities from harmful pollution while providing greater certainty for industry,” said EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan in the agency’sĀ press release….
