The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday closed a federal probe into the police officer shooting of a black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin. No charges were filed. Officials with the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin made the decision “because the evidence obtained is insufficient to prove that the KPD officer willfully used excessive force,” DOJ said in a statement. Rusten Sheskey with the Kenosha Police Department (KPD) shot Blake seven times as he tried entering a vehicle that contained several children. Blake was accused of having sexual relations with a woman without her consent in May 2020.
