House Democrat impeachment managers on Feb. 2 filed the trial memorandum summarizing their case for convicting former President Donald Trump. The memo (pdf), which was due on Tuesday, alleges that Trump incited the mob which breached the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 by challenging the results of the 2020 presidential election. The Democrats memo also presents an argument for why the trial is Constitutional even though Trump is now a private citizen. Trump’s Save America political action committee did not respond to an emailed request for comment. In a speech given on the day of the Capitol breach, the president urged his followers to make their voices heard peacefully.
