Democrat activist Stacey Abrams is running for governor again after her 2018 loss. Abrams, 47, announced her 2022 bid on Wednesday. “I’m running for governor because opportunity in our state shouldn’t be determined by zip code, background or access to power,” Abrams said in a statement. “If our Georgia is going to move to its next and greatest chapter, we’re going to need leadership,” she added in a campaign video. Abrams, a former Georgia House of Representatives minority leader, still maintains she would have won the 2018 contest, which she lost to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, if voter suppression had not taken place. Her claims have little evidence supporting them. The election was certified for Kemp, 58, a Republican.
