A Louisiana man has filed a federal lawsuit against Southwest Airlines, claiming that the company improperly denied refunds for flights that were canceled during its recent operational chaos.
The lawsuit, filed on Dec. 30, 2022, in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, “is believed to be the first” legal complaint arising from Southwest’s pre- and post-Christmas snarls, Law and Crime reported.
Eric Capdeville of Marrero, Louisiana, seeks to represent himself and “all others similarly situated” in a class-action complaint for breach of contract, according to the court filing.
Although Southwest Airlines is based in Texas, the suit was filed in Capdeville’s state because that was where “a substantial part” of related events occurred, the filing states….
