Commentary Sometimes change happens so incrementally that most of us barely notice. Canada’s steady march toward a collectivist and authoritarian mindset over the course of a decade has been that kind of change. But the events of the last year have made the culture shift undeniable. Group rights are in. Individual rights are out. A National Post columnist illustrated this shift recently by calling for all health-care professionals to be administered a COVID vaccine or face dismissal. She remarks with apparent disgust that employers cannot legally mandate that all workers be vaccinated, “supposedly because people have the right not to be subjected to medical interventions against their will.” Indeed, people do have this right.
