HOUSTON—China had a brilliant history of 5,000 years before communism took control. Bob and Sherry Lindley, who came to see Shen Yun Performing Arts to celebrate their 29th anniversary, expressed their appreciation for Shen Yun’s reviving of traditional Chinese culture.
“I didn’t realize that China at one time was a free country before communism. I just assumed it was always communism, so it’s really enlightening to see how a lot of people are trying to change it back to the way it used to be,” said Mr. Lindley, an operations manager.
After the communists took control of China in 1949,  they began a systematic attack on traditional Chinese culture. New York-based Shen Yun was founded in 2006, and since then, artists from around the world have joined hands in reviving Chinese culture and letting the world understand China before communism….
