Trust in national and local media outlets has dropped to a new low when it comes to Republicans and those who lean to the right, according to a new poll. Just 35 percent of that group said they have a lot or some trust in national news organizations, according to the Pew Research Center poll. That’s down from 70 percent in 2016. Democrats and those who lean to the left have remained trusting in national outlets. Their trust has only declined five percentage points, to 78 percent, during the same period of time. Both groups are more trusting of local news organizations.
