ConservAmerica hosted a webinar Oct. 12 to discuss the bipartisan Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (RAWA), which would add nearly $1.4 billion in funding to wildlife conservation-related programs, helping to keep species off the endangered species list. It would provide $1.3 billion per year to a new ‘Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Subaccount,’ supplementing, but not replacing, the funding that already exists. In addition, it would reserve $55 million for states and territories “that include plants among their species of greatest conservation need and in the conservation planning and habitat prioritization efforts of their Wildlife Conservation Strategy,” and it would establish and fund a new ‘Tribal Wildlife and Restoration Account’ at $97.5 million per year.
