JEMISON, Ala.–In the deep woods of Central Alabama lives a real-life Dr. Dolittle. To his family, friends, and acquaintances, he is David Dyson and he is on a mission—a mission to save animals and inspire youth through character trait education.
The driveway at the entrance of Compassion Ranch is lined with stately oaks. Taking notice of visitors, horses gallop to the fence line for a closer look. And despite a background of abuse and neglect, they are happy to see people.
Compassion Ranch is home to 34 animals. And while some came there as a result of abuse or abandonment, others were donated after the passing of their owners or when their owners were no longer able to take care of them….
