With the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles County, colleges and universities have started their school year online. Schools are expecting a significant number of students testing positive for COVID-19 and require isolation. To give students more time to get tested or recover from COVID-19, many schools have either postponed the date for students to return to campus or decided to conduct classes online. University of California–Los Angeles started its winter quarter remotely on Jan. 3. Like many other colleges in the UC system, it plans to hold remote learning until at least Jan. 28. University of Southern California, a private school located near downtown Los Angeles, started its spring semester on Monday, Jan. 10. It also announced last week that it will extend remote learning by an additional four days and will resume in-person classes on Jan. 24.
