Officials in Chicago confirmed that separate shootings over the weekend left dozens injured and six dead, local media reported.
From Friday to Monday morning, 33 people were shot across Chicago, police told the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday. Two young girls, aged 3 and 6, were counted among the victims who were shot and injured.
Police said that most of the incidents occurred on the South and West sides—areas that are known to have high violent crime rates. Several people were also shot in the city’s North Side and in Old Town, officials said.
