Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton has backed the federal government’s decision to join allies in a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, saying Australia wants the Chinese regime to adhere to “basic human rights.” But not all senior politicians agree with the move. “I just don’t think people can turn a blind eye any longer to the human rights abuses that we’re seeing with the Uyghurs,” Dutton told Nine’s Today show on Friday morning.
