The Canadian government should do more than merely “express concern” as communist China continues its clampdown on democracy in Hong Kong and expands its influence operations around the world, says former ambassador to China David Mulroney. On Dec. 29, 2021, the Hong Kong national security police arbitrarily arrested several journalists and former board members of a local pro-democracy media outlet, Stand News, including Canadian citizen and popular singer Denise Ho.
