California is preparing to send another round of $600 stimulus payments to qualified residents starting in September. The funds will come out of the $100 billion California Comeback Plan in Senate Bill 129, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom in July. To qualify for the Golden State Stimulus II payments, residents must file their 2020 taxes by Oct. 15, and their income must not exceed $75,000 for the 2020 tax year. They must also have been a California resident for more than half of 2020, as well as on the date the payment is issued, and they can’t be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer. Two-thirds of Californians are expected to qualify for the $600 checks. Those who have children will also get another $500 check.
