California approved a proposal that would ban new natural gas-fueled furnaces and water heaters in homes by 2030, according to a proposal approved by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) last week.
“We need to take every action we can to deliver on our commitments to protect public health from the adverse impacts of air pollution, and this strategy identifies how we can do just that,” board Chair Liane Randolph said in a statement.
She also claimed that the move will benefit “many low-income and disadvantaged communities,” without elaborating.
The move Thursday wasn’t the final vote. It directed state agencies to come up with a rule to phase out gas-fired appliances that will be voted on in 2025….
