Chinese all around the world are sending pain and fever relief medicine to mainland China despite the country being the world’s largest manufacturer of the non-prescription drugs.
China supplies about one third of the world’s Ibuprofen, which along with other fever and pain medicines, is in short supply now due to the current COVID outbreak in China. The shortages are putting a strain on Chinese residents.
A desperate mom in China’s Yunnan Province sent out a message from her social media account before Christmas, offering 10,000 yuan (about $1,453) to buy one bottle of liquid Ibuprofen for her sick children. According to Chinese media reports, a regular bottle of liquid Ibuprofen can now easily be sold for 800 yuan (about $112) on the black market, while this kind of medicine is sold on the U.S. market with a regular price of around $20 per bottle….
