OTTAWA—Canada and the United States will work together on seven broad initiatives including clean energy and good jobs, strengthening the critical minerals and semiconductor supply chain, protecting the Arctic, and investing in defence and security, according to a joint statement issued by the leaders of the two countries. 
The statement was issued after U.S. President Joe Biden delivered a speech to a joint session of Parliament in the House of Commons on March 24, as he continued his two-day visit to Canada.
Regarding funding announcements, the biggest dollar-value items are for the modernization of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). A nearly $7 billion investment in radar systems accompanied another $7.3 billion in the “northern forward operating locations” to support fifth-generation aircraft, capabilities which should be in place prior to the arrival of the F-35 aircraft….
