President Joe Biden’s administration is considering an extension of a pause on student loan payments, with an announcement expected later this week. Interest payments on federal student loans were paused by the Trump administration in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Biden administration extended the pause but as of now, people will see interest build again starting Feb. 1, 2022. Another extension is on the table. “Later this week, we will be announcing whether to extend the pause further,” a Department of Education (DOE) spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email. That was a reversal of the administration’s stance just a week ago. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said then payments would resume in February.
