Two more international COVID-19 vaccines have been formally recognised by Australia’s medical regulator, ahead of international travel recommencing. The Therapeutic Goods Administration said on Monday it would recognise the Indian-made Covaxin and the Chinese-made BBIBP-CorV (Sinopharm) vaccine. In a statement, the administration said the decision would allow those who had been jabbed with either of the vaccines to be eligible for travel to Australia. Only travellers who have been fully immunised with a vaccine recognised by the administration will be able to arrive in Australia under travel arrangements. “This will have significant impacts for the return of international students, and travel of skilled and unskilled workers to Australia,” an administration spokesman said. “Citizens of China and India as well as other countries in our region where these vaccines have been widely deployed will now be considered fully vaccinated on entry to Australia.” It comes as international arrivals touched down in …
