An Australian Liberal shadow minister has resigned from his position to support The Voice referendum.
On April 11, Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians Julian Leeser announced that he had quit the shadow cabinet to campaign for a “yes” vote on the Indigenous Voice to Parliament.
This comes after the Opposition Leader Peter Dutton revealed that an “overwhelming majority” of Liberal Party MPs had voted to oppose the Voice on April 5.
The Voice is an initiative by the Labor government to change how Indigenous policy is designed and functions by creating an advisory body that provides advice to parliament and the government on issues that have an impact on the Indigenous community….
