As search and rescue teams over the weekend sifted through the rubble of a collapsed condominium tower near Miami, officials released emails from 2018 that included a warning from an engineer about “major structural damage” and that the tower needed $9 million in repairs. So far, according to Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava in a Sunday morning news conference, nine people have died, while more than 150 remain missing following the collapse on June 24.
