The original phrase was of course a little different, and made famous during Sen. Joe McCarthy’s 1954 hearings into communist subversion in America. But it may soon find new usage with the U.S. Constitution and democracy once again under attack from within.
Just four days before the Aug. 8 Mar-a-Lago raid, I made this prediction: “With Biden’s approval rating having dropped to below 30 percent in some polls, if the Democrats hold onto both houses of Congress, it would take a lot to convince the American people of the legitimacy of the election result.
