Anaheim city council is backing a California assembly bill that would allow larger theme parks to open under a more restrictive COVID-19 tier. The state has developed a tier system to guide the reopening of the economy amid the pandemic. Although many schools and businesses are now at least partially open, major California theme parks such as Disneyland have been closed since last March. There are four tiers, with the top tier being the most restrictive, and the fourth tier being the least restrictive. The assembly bill that Anaheim council supported during a Feb. 16 meeting calls on the state to allow theme parks to reopen when a county reaches the “moderate” tier, rather than the “minimal” tier, which is currently where counties must be in order to reopen major amusement centers.
