On Monday, Sept. 6, we will celebrate Labor Day, a day that recognizes the American worker who performs everyday tasks that keep the blood pumping through the heart of this great democracy. The American worker ignites the energy that powers this nation forward, from the postal worker who delivers your mail to the clerk at your local grocery store, from the police and fire personnel who protect life and property and assure you peace of mind and a good night’s sleep to the borough employee who cleans our streets and removes our waste. There are many more, but they are too numerous to mention. Without these services, our great nation would grind to a screeching halt.
