Dear Mark: For most cabinets, other than ones holding heavy items, glued joints provide plenty of strength and often look the best. Using glue and clamps provides time to precisely position the pieces for perfect flush joint edges with minimal sanding.
A combination of wood screws and glue actually makes the strongest cabinets and is better for cabinets holding heavy objects such as in a garage. When using screws, you will likely want to also use clamps to keep the cabinets square as the glue dries….
