Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett was arrested and charged for driving under the influence late on Friday.
In a statement released Saturday morning through his office, Hargett said that he was stopped by the Tullahoma Police Department after leading the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Coffee County on Friday night, and was arrested for DUI.
“Driving Under the Influence is a serious matter, and I regret the circumstances that led to my arrest. I respect law enforcement and will trust the legal process as we move forward,” he said.
Hargett, 53, was booked into the Coffee County Jail in the early hours on Saturday, and released a few hours later after posting $2,000 bail, reported WKRN-TV….
