President Joe Biden will visit Texas in the near future, possibly as soon as this week, a spokesperson said Sunday. “He is eager to go down to Texas and show his support. But he is also very mindful of the fact that it’s not a light footprint for a president to travel to a disaster area. He does not want to take away resources or attention,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on ABC’s “This Week.” “We’re going to do that at an appropriate time in coordination with people on the ground. Could be as soon as this week,” she added. Texas is dealing with freezing temperatures that led to record-breaking electric demand, which in turn caused widespread power outages.
