Two Virginia fathers have launched a “Dads on Duty” initiative to help provide a positive male presence in local schools and keep children safe from violence while supporting teachers and other staff.
Brothers Jimmy Carter and Joshua Carter of Chesterfield County, who have seven children between them, told WTVR News Richmond that placing dads in area high schools could help prevent violence among students.
The Carter brothers said they were inspired to set up their own “Dads on Duty” initiative by a group of dads who launched a similar program in Louisiana in response to a series of violent fights that broke out at Shreveport’s Southwood High School in September 2021, which led to the arrests of 23 students over a three-day period….
