ARCADIA, Calif.—A 4-year-old filly died after suffering a racing injury at Santa Anita Park on Kentucky Derby day, state horse racing officials have confirmed.

“There had been hope for saving this filly but euthanasia became necessary,” Mike Marten, public information officer for the racing board, told City News Service.
Speedcuber was running her third career race on May 7. She was owned by LNJ Foxwoods and trained by Richard Baltas. Her jockey was Ramon Vazquez.
