Commentary On Dec. 17, a report published on the homepage of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-run media Xinhua website was very eye-catching. It stated, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Refutes Influencing U.S. Presidential Elections: Completely Fabricated.” Chinese state media reports on the U.S. presidential election, and their stated attitudes toward the two candidates, have fluctuated greatly. Of course, the Party has its eyes on Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden. But as allegations of election fraud and Chinese interference surfaced, the Party is worried that the truth could be spilled soon. CCP media has been cautious in general in their coverage, for fear of being implicated in election fraud, which will attract a strong U.S. counterattack.
