President Joe Biden’s administration on Friday postponed oil and gas lease sales that were slated to take place next month to comply with a recent executive order he issued. Biden last month ordered the Department of the Interior to pause new oil and natural gas leases on public lands or in offshore waters, pending completion of a comprehensive review. The department on Friday postponed two sets of lease sales: one on sales planned for Colorado, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming, and another for the Gulf of Mexico. The Bureau of Land Management was going to offer 383 parcels totaling about 483,017 acres across the four states while the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management was going to offer approximately 78.2 million acres in the gulf.
