NEW DELHI–India and China have decided to disengage from the Pangong Tso lake after ten months of military standoff, said Ranjnath Singh, India’s Defense Minister while addressing Rajya Sabha, India’s upper house of the parliament on Feb. 11. “The implementation of this agreement will substantially restore the situation to that existing prior to commencement of the standoff last year,” said Singh. India and China saw the worst deterioration in their bilateral relations after the bloody conflict in Galwan valley on June 15 last year. Since then the two militaries faced an intense military standoff along the de facto border in Ladakh, particularly at Pangong Tso lake, two-thirds of which falls in China-controlled territory and the rest under India.
