SEATTLE, Wash. —Doug Broadstone is a businessman from Snohomish who had come to enjoy the unique performance of the world-class Shen Yun Performing Arts while it was playing in the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall in Seattle. Shen Yun had been featured in the Wall Street Journal two weeks previously, and Broadstone confirmed that his experience, after watching Shen Yun, had corroborated the positive write-up in every way. New York-based Shen Yun is an international company that presents a panorama of Chinese traditional culture. Its authentic classical and folk dances and music are acclaimed worldwide but the company is forbidden from performing in China. Broadstone was amazed by the coordination of the performers, the music, and the color of the costumes. “To see the traditional Chinese colors, they’re just beautiful.
