Labor’s Kim Carr has announced that he would retire from the Australian parliament at the May election after having been a senator for the state of Victoria since 1993. Senator Carr, who is 66 years old and the longest-serving member of the Australian Senate, said he was not pursuing endorsement for a place on Labor’s Victorian Senate ticket and would conclude his career as a senator when his current term ended on June 30.
