The late Australian Senator Kimberley Kitching has been farewelled by an assortment of political leaders from both sides of the aisle, as well as the 14th Dalai Lama, who said he was “saddened” by her passing. A statement from the Tibetan leader-in-exile was read during the ceremony, which stated that: “Senator Kitching was a steadfast supporter and a friend of the Tibetan people. As you know, I had the opportunity to meet her when she visited Dharamsala 2017 with a delegation of Australian parliamentarians.” Kitching, a fierce critic of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), visited India in 2017 along with Liberal MP Kevin Andrews and political commentator Derryn Hinch.
