Federal prosecutors have charged a 50-year-old Arizona man with assaulting several police officers on the U.S. Capitol lawn on Jan. 6, 2021. Jacob L. Zerkle of Bowie, Ariz., was arrested Tuesday in Tucson on seven federal counts, including charges of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers; civil disorder; engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds; and four related offenses. According to a criminal complaint (pdf) filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., at about 2 p.m. on Jan. 6, Zerkle attacked several Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers who were walking on the west lawn of the Capitol. Zerkle is listed as No. 335 on the FBI’s Jan. 6 most-wanted page.
